Early rise once more! We're driving all the way to Amarillo today. Just like the first day, this trip would be topping the 600 mile marker. The weather was cooler as we went, getting cooler as we went. A plus was that the inverter we picked up at Walmart in the morning worked great! Now we get to make the time lapse videos like I planned. The camera rig was looking a little weaker, but it held up ok.
Oklahoma certainly was a step down from Arkansas roads. And those weren't all that great either! Oklahoma was a much bumpier ride overall though.. Reminds me of Pennsylvania on trips to Connecticut while I was growing up. Like you're sitting on a slowly bouncing spring.
We played phone tag with Dena's friend Paul as we approached Oklahoma City, so we could meet for lunch. I was a little worried at first since we were taking directions on the fly. But OK City was actually a pretty easy city to understand, so we got to the mall we ate lunch ate without a problem! That was a nice thing for Dena, since a lot of the friends we're seeing on the trip are my friends. Good for her to see hers!
The remainder of the trip was pretty uneventful, there wasn't even a 'Welcome to Texas' sign! Seemed to me that there would not only be one, but it'd be the biggest one of all! Guess northern Texas doesn't matter. We're starting to master the roads out west, what with their access roads on either side of the highway. Not how we do it on the east coast!
The hotel in Amarillo isn't as good as the one in Nashville, mostly due to a very low showerhead, but it's still fine. Hope we don't hit a real dive on the trip, ordering on the internet can be interesting!
