Early rise once more! We're driving all the way to Amarillo today. Just like the first day, this trip would be topping the 600 mile marker. The weather was cooler as we went, getting cooler as we went. A plus was that the inverter we picked up at Walmart in the morning worked great! Now we get to make the time lapse videos like I planned. The camera rig was looking a little weaker, but it held up ok.

Oklahoma certainly was a step down from Arkansas roads. And those weren't all that great either! Oklahoma was a much bumpier ride overall though.. Reminds me of Pennsylvania on trips to Connecticut while I was growing up. Like you're sitting on a slowly bouncing spring.

We played phone tag with Dena's friend Paul as we approached Oklahoma City, so we could meet for lunch. I was a little worried at first since we were taking directions on the fly. But OK City was actually a pretty easy city to understand, so we got to the mall we ate lunch ate without a problem! That was a nice thing for Dena, since a lot of the friends we're seeing on the trip are my friends. Good for her to see hers!

The remainder of the trip was pretty uneventful, there wasn't even a 'Welcome to Texas' sign! Seemed to me that there would not only be one, but it'd be the biggest one of all! Guess northern Texas doesn't matter. We're starting to master the roads out west, what with their access roads on either side of the highway. Not how we do it on the east coast!

The hotel in Amarillo isn't as good as the one in Nashville, mostly due to a very low showerhead, but it's still fine. Hope we don't hit a real dive on the trip, ordering on the internet can be interesting!

RAR! Chomp! TOO EARLY AGAIN! I am sooo not a morning person. We left Adams pretty early. He even allowed us to wake him up to say goodbye. The weather turned cold. What's up with this? We're in the South! Haha. The drive today was very very long. I mean, c'mpn - we drove from Little Rock to Amarillo! But there was a highlight today... something that was all too cool...

Paul Mitchell has been a friend of mine since High School. He went to school in Oklahoma and he also met a wonderful woman and married her. I hadn't seen him or her since their wedding in 2005. So when Keith and I drove through Oklahoma City I called him up and after playing phone tag for a bit we finally hook up at a Mall in the city and do lunch. It was so wonderful to see him. The visit was short, but it was a lovely sweet visit. It was all too good to see him and his wife, Meg. Some day, I would really enjoy actually doing a lengthy visit and really and truly catch up.

Not much else besides that happened. It started to flurry in Oklahoma -- what the heck? The drive continued to be a very long one. Finally we made it to Amarillo. Yay! We got some Wendy's and quickly crashed at the hotel. Early sleep. Early rise the next day... again.

--- Oh, btw, Oklahoma has the WORSE roads. I thought Arkansas was bad. But I think Oklahoma even has Arkansas beat!
