We finally took the opportunity to sleep in today, and after some website work, we went out for some tourist activity around 11am. The strip looks very different in daylight; calmer for one, but also none of the snazzy Vegas neons. Dena had her heart set on checking out Caesar's Palace, so off we went! We got accosted every few blocks by peddlers of all sorts, and one or two really latched onto my batman logo shirt. No thanks!
The interior (and exterior) of CP is extravagant. I can see why we could not afford to stay here!! It's like its own little city. Stay here and you really don't even need to go see the rest of Vegas. All shopping can be done indoors! The ceiling is done up to look like the sky, and Dena tells me it changes to night sky after dark. Nice! We took pictures of some of the insane statues and columns, and then Dena found a shop to her liking, 'West of Santa Fe'. They had a lot of southwestern jewelry with opals and turquoise. She found a ring and some earings while the sales lady, a older woman, complimented me on my smile. We wandered around a little further, but didn't see anything else to our liking. There was a collectibles shop, but everything was priced as, well, a collectible. In Vegas. So no purchases there!
I had seen some pretty nice glass figure-type-things at the Santa Fe shop, and since they were priced very reasonably, we went back and I got a red eagle for about $40. Not bad! They laughed to see us return so quickly. Afterwards we checked out the Bellagio, but I didn't see Terry Benedict anywhere. Everything in Vegas costs money! They had an Ansel Adams exhibit, but it was $15 for entry, so we passed. We finished up with checking out Monte Carlo and some of New York, New York, and went back to the room, dead tired. We downed water like we were sponges!
We did some more catching up on the website in preparations for uploading, and soon it was time to head to MGM for the Cirque du Soleil show, KA. We got in, and to say our seats were awesome is an understatement. We were on the left side of the theater, but in the 3rd row! When the show started, some of the actors would go by on the ledge of the stage right in front of us, about 7 feet away. Crazy!! I had to laugh at myself a little, since once the show really got going, I was as amazed by the actors as I was by the stage. It was a massive thing that could rotate, go to vertical and beyond, and lots more! Engineer geeking out VERY much!!
It was a little different from most other Cirques I've seen, with more emphasis on the story than the actual acts, though those were amazing of course. First time a Cirque show had a very easy to follow story. Completely amazing experience. We went to the shop after the show, but everything was so very expensive, we went out there pretty quickly. After some dinner it was time to go back to the room and sleep, and we were out FAST.
