Denver to Kansas City. The ultimate long drive. Not only a long time to be in the car, but nothing to see on the way! Add to that hitting a time zone change going the wrong way, and it's going to be a long day. The weather had improved a little bit as we left Denver, letting us see the Rocky mountains behind us. They were awesome! Sad that the weather definitely didn't let us visit them the previous day. Another time.

The eastern half of Colorado was pretty blanketed in snow, glad to have missed that bit of weather! There were more than a few semi's in the median, one even flipped on its side. As we got into Kansas, things cleared up for a little bit, but not for long. After the looong drive east, things started getting rainy again as we hit the toll portion of I-70. The tolls were crazy too! Luckily we weren't going south, since the last toll to get off is almost $7. As we headed towards Topeka and then Kansas city the rain really came down. Even though yesterday had more rainfall, today was the winner for intensity. It was all we could do to follow the brakelights in front of us for a while.

We made it though, and again the hotel was pretty decent. We had dinner at Steak and Shake, a novelty for us east coasters. I hadn't eaten there since 2005 in Indiana. Dena hadn't ever! The only downside of the hotel was that we couldn't get the internet to work in the room, so I carted the laptop to the lobby to get some emails checked and make sure we knew where we were going in the morning.

As a funny end to the day we watched Mythbusters trying out some Ninja myths. That by itself was pretty cool, but then the ninja from askaninja.com showed up at the end! Too funny for us. Good to see him gaining some fame.

Nice easy drive tomorrow, especially compared to today. Thank goodness!
